Ex-commander of Special Operations Forces Khorenko to continue to carry out special tasks as part of Main Intelligence Agency – Zelenskyy

Ex-commander of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of Ukraine Viktor Khorenko will continue to carry out special tasks as part of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

“General Viktor Khorenko, who commanded the Special Operations Forces, will continue to perform special tasks as part of Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said in his evening video address.

Speaking about the newly appointed commander of the Special Operations Forces Serhiy Lupanchuk, the head of state noted that “he is an experienced officer, a combat officer, the right man in command, and someone who can bring greater power to our Special Operations Forces.” “We look forward to new results,” Zelenskyy stated.

As reported, on the afternoon of November 3, by his decree, the President of Ukraine dismissed Viktor Khorenko from the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Serhiy Lupanchuk to this position.

Khorenko has held the position of commander of the SOF since July 25, 2022. Previously, this post was held by Hryhoriy Halahan.

Lupanchuk holds the rank of colonel. There is no information about him in the public domain.
