Estonia continues to support Ukraine, combat Russian propaganda – PM

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has said she views the fact that Russia has placed her on a wanted list as an intimidation tactic.

“Nothing in the actions of the Russian Federation comes as a surprise; this is their normal tactic of intimidation. We will continue the previous steps – providing support to Ukraine, strengthening European defense, [and] combating Russian propaganda,” Kallas said in a comment for the media on Tuesday.

Russia expects that “the fictitious arrest warrant will help silence Estonia,” she said.

“I am not going to keep silent, I will continue to resolutely support Ukraine and advocate the reinforcement of European defense,” she said.

Throughout its history, Russia has concealed its reprisals, she went on to say. “In the history of my family, the KGB issued an arrest warrant before,” Kallas said, adding that “our actions cannot be intimidated by that.”

As reported previously, the Russian Interior Ministry opened a criminal case against Kallas and Estonian Secretary of State Taimar Peterkop.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier on Tuesday that these two figures are responsible for certain decisions that he described as an outrage against historical memory and “taking actions hostile towards historical memory and our country.”
