President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks on Monday with head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and thanked her for her positive assessment of Ukraine’s implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission, the press service of the head of state reported.
“Our country will continue to implement all its obligations, in particular regarding the rights of national minorities and strengthening anti-corruption institutions,” the President of Ukraine assured.
Zelenskyy informed his interlocutor about the bills adopted at the first reading aimed at further strengthening the anti-corruption infrastructure.
The head of state stressed the importance of maintaining the unity of the European Union ahead of the December meeting of the European Council.
He also noted that the approval of a multi-year assistance program for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 50 billion would be the best signal of sustainable support from the European Union, and the decision to begin negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the EU would be a powerful motivation for Ukrainians, who for almost two years have continued to fight for their freedom and common democratic values, the head of state emphasized.
